A case model of the 1930 America’s Cup British Challenger, “Shamrock V.” The 5th Shamrock built by Sir Thomas Lipton was the first British built J Boat. Lipton was unsuccessful in all 5 of his challenges. Shamrock V lost 0-4 to Enterprise. Lipton, the tea magnate, was presented with an enormous gold-plated trophy, The Loving Cup, by the NYYC for his good sportsmanship and friendship in conducting his 5 challenges from 1899-1930.
