“The Meet” oil on board painting of horses and riders assembling before a hunt, signed John Lewis Brown, dated 1885. Brown was highly regarded for his sporting paintings. Contains wax gallery seal on verso from Durand Ruel. Provenance: from collection of Forsyth Wickes, a New York City lawyer who gave his major French furniture and decorative arts collection to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
