Outstanding pair of charcoal & crayon sketches by Reynolds Beal for his large America’s Cup race paintings; circa 1930. Beal ( 1867 – 1951 ) was a famous American Impressionist painter known for his sailing & fishing paintings. He sketched as he lived on board his sail boat & cruised the Atlantic Coast, making sketches and notes which he later turned into paintings.
Provenance : Purchased from Quester Galleries who got them from the Beal estate.
