Oil on canvas painting by American artist, Wilbur Leighton Duntley, (1872- death date unknown), signed lower left ” Duntley ’05” (1905) of a horse pulling a sulky with a nattily dressed driver in a wonderful rough wood frame with 2 sets of real horseshoes mounted in the corners. Duntley, born in Michigan, lived in New Hampshire from the 1880s until his death. He was known for his agricultural and fairground paintings and horse portraits. In 1890, he purchased the Rochester, New Hampshire newspaper, The Leader. Circa 1905.
