Thomas H. Willis ( 1850 – 1925 ) portrait of a New York Yacht Club racing yacht done in his typical ‘silky” form with the boat sewn in silk and the background painted in oil. Danish born American maritime artist Willis was famous for these ‘Silkies”. This one is a gaff rigged sloop flying the NYYC burgee. One small patch at lower left. Late 19th – Early 20th Century.
